Nokia Illuvial Collection (in pink)

Can someone explain why there are so many gadgets colored in pink? Is it because women love the color pink? I guess so… So anyway, good news for lovers of pink gadgets, because Nokia has presented the Illuvial Colletion, which basically takes some Nokia models and adds a color + goodies.

The Nokia 5530, 6303, and 6700 were the chosen models for this collection, and besides getting the pink colors, they are also come with a leather case and strap. And there are even a few pink backgrounds for the cellphone included in the deal. The Illuvial Collection is already available on the UK and will become available on Europe in the following weeks.

Nokia 5230 Cell Phone Gets FCC Nod

Remember the Nokia5230 that was announced a few days ago? The phone was recently spotted over at the FCC - that’s right folks, the newest touchscreen phone from Nokia is set to flood the markets. I really wish Nokia stopped using numbers in their model numbers though - it’s just not easy to remember ‘em all. As seen over in that other post, the phone supports handwriting input along with touch, which is useful for quickly noting down information. I’ve never been fond of the touchscreen QWERTY keyboards (at least until now), so that’s one feature that would be mighty useful for me.

Bummer that the phone only has a 2 megapixel camera. But the screen is nice and large (3.2 inch), so that’s good. It’s on schedule for a Q4 2009 release.

Nokia 2200 Slide Gets Leaked

With all the excitement around Motorola"s official start in the Android smartphone business we can’t overlook an upcoming Nokiaphone. The 2200 has been leaked already and we know it’s going to be an entry-level handset which will bring you simple features like GSM and EDGE connectivity, VGA camera, FM radio, 3.5mm jack and Symbian S40 in the background. The phone will be available in 6 different colors and will cost around $125 but you’ll probably be able to get it for free with new contracts. We have no idea when it’s going to be available but we’ll tell you more once Nokia decides to officially unveil it.

T-Mobile Announces the Nokia 5130 XpressMusic

T-mobile has decided to pick up a new Nokia phone for its customers. Unfortunately for smartphone lovers, this particular handset will not suffice. The 5130 Xpress music is the newest addition to T-Mobile’s lineup and the phone is a music-oriented, entry-level device. T-Mobile will sell it for just $29.99 after a $20 mail-in rebate but you’d have to get a mandatory 2-year contract.

Besides the obvious music-related features like external controls and music player support, the 5130 will definitely not surprise you when it comes to specs. You’ll have a 2-megapixel camera to play with, stereo bluetooth microSD support and a choice of crazy color combo between black/red and pear white/aqua. So if the phone is not for you, we would definitely understand!

Nokia N86 available in the US, finally

It’s finally here ! If you head over to Amazon or the Nokia flagship stores in Chicago or NY, you will find the preorder sign taken down and the N86 in the flesh, ready to find its new owners. The8-megapixel shooter is going for $469 on Amazon while the flagship stores sell it for $499, a bit high yet less than the $558 price that was originally mentioned. Of course, it’s up to you guys to decide if the N86 and its 2.6-inch QVGA OLED display, 3G support, WiFi, GPS, and its selling point, the 8mpx Carl Zeiss lens with dual LED flash deserves your wad of greens or if you have already decided on a better device!

Vertu debuts Constellation Ayxta, its first flip phone

We got more than a blurry picture this time and a proper name too. The Constellation F we reported on a few days is actually the Ayxta, which will be the first clamshell from the Hampshire, UK-based Nokia subsidiary. The handset features two new services that might become regulars on future Vertu phones, the Concierge and Select City Brief services. The Concierge gives the elite customer a direct line to a customer care rep who can address any questions or demands that are put forward, with just a single button press; the Select City Brief, on the other hand, uses the onboard GPS (?) to automatically change time to the local timezone and get the lowdown on the happening places in the vicinity. Both these features are something we can live without and as for some real specs, the Constellation Ayxta features 3G support, a 3-megapixel camera with integrated flash, and microSD support for up to 8GB. Available in Europe starting at $7000 apiece, which is actually lesser than some of the other constellation handsets, but still high enough to boost a rich man’s ego.

Amazon offers Nokia E72 for $469

After whizzing through the FCC last July, it was only a matter of time before the NAM version of E-70"s successor made an appearance stateside. Amazon is now offering the Nokia E72 on a preorder and if you have been waiting for the device to pop up online, you can go ahead and order it for $469. There is still no word on the actual release date or if there is a benevolent carrier ready to pick it up, but with triband 850/1900/2100MHz 3G network support, which is the frequency AT&T’s 3G operates at, we wouldn’t be surprised if AT&T announced the device in the coming days. Other features of the E72 include a QWERTY keypad, a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with dual-LED flash, WiFi, GPS, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

T-Mobile to Offer Nokia 2330

After announcing the coming of the Nokia 6350 the other day,T-MOBILE adds another Nokia phone to its roster with the Nokia 2330. The Nokia 2330 will be paired with T-Mobile plans, presumably cheap ones.

The Nokia 2330 is not a new handset in the market. It came out in 2008 and boasts of features such as a VGA camera, dual-band and a 32 MB internal memory. The Nokia 2330 is set to be offered to customers in the coming weeks but pricing has yet to be announced. Just to give you an idea, the Nokia 2330 carries a MSRP of €50 in Europe.

Nokia reports $834 million quarterly loss, other not so good news

Nokia has long been known as one of the premiere handset makers on Earth with a staggering market share. Today, however, the news is not the same as Nokia has just posted a $834 million quarterly loss, but that’s not all.

The mega handset manufacturer also let us know that their smartphone market share is also down to 35% as compared to 41% in last quarter.

Is this the beginning of the end for Nokia? Perhaps once their N900 hits the market these numbers will be a bit different? Only time could tell.

Nokia 5230 gets pictured

The last we heard of the Nokia 5230 was back in August when it was announced to be hitting store shelves sometime later this year. It’s no surprise we haven’t heard much of it with handsets such as the HTC HD2 taking all the spotlight.

But anyways, if you’re a fan of the Symbian S60 operating system you’ll appreciate the fact that the Nokia 5230 has gotten pictured up close and personal. This phone features a 3.2-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth 2.0, and a 2MP camera.

Nokia has also pushed the release date to January of next year.

Nokia N97 firmware gets updated: v20

Samsung Instinct is Best in Show at CTIA Wireless 2008

Samsung's touch-screen phone, the Samsung Instinct, came out with the "Best in Show" Emerging Technology Award at the recently concluded CTIA Wireless 2008. It also topped the Most Innovative and Best Cell Phone in CNET's Cream of the Crop at the event.

A panel of 31 judges evaluated all the entries based on innovation, functionality, wow factor, importance of technology and ease of use/implementation. The Samsung Instinct beat out nearly 300 contenders for the top prize. It is eqiupeed with a 2 megapixel camera and microSD memory card expandable up to 8GB, stereo Bluetooth 2.0 and SMS voice/text messaging.

Sony Ericsson W205 is a low-cost Walkman music phone for those who don\'t need fancy features

First, practically every mobile phone got a camera lens and image sensor. Then, most mobile phones were loaded with MP3 player software, tiny loudspeakers, and stereo headset for listening to music. Next, we expect most phones to be equipped with GPS receiver and maps. Fortunately for users, as a new technology becomes a commodity, product prices go down as well. That's what has happened to, for instance, Walkman music phones that originally were high-end products. Now, they are as affordable as the next phone.

The Sony Ericsson W205 is a low-cost, stylish Walkman music phone. It comes with in-built MP3

Nokia N85 caught in the wild

That’s right. The rumored Nokia (NYSE: NOK) N85 has been spotted in the wild and Engadget Mobile has the pic to prove it.

The Nokia N85 sports a glossy black finish, falling in line with the design aesthetic that we’ve seen Espoo using on their N-series devices. The Nokia N85 slider apparently rocks a 5 megapixel shooter, integrated GPS, and photo geotagging – unfortunately that’s about all we know at the moment.

Windows Mobile messaging smartphone with keyboard, the HTC snap

It is good to see mobile phone manufacturers haven't totally forgotten people who prefer physical keyboards instead of virtual keyboards on touch screens. If you frequently type messages, tweets, or notes, a qwerty keyboard is still the fastest and most error-free way to go. Just think of computers. Nothing has managed to replace the keyboard as the input method for text - no matter how much we love our touch screen devices when reading ebooks, viewing YouTube videos or listening to music from Spotify.

The HTC Snap is a Windows Mobile smartphone with qwerty keyboard. The device comes with 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity. The 2.4-inch screen has 240x320 resolution. 2 megapixel camera can record videos as well.

Samsung Mondi tablet with high-speed Internet connection

We have witnessed a rapid rise of netbook PCs during the last year or so. Typically, the small laptops come with screen sizes between 6 and 11 inches. 8.9 and 10 inches are the most popular sizes. On the other hand, smartphones, like the Apple iPhone or the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic are increasingly getting larger displays. Still, between the smartphone and the netbook, there is room for a new product category. Some call them Internet tablets, others believe they are MID computers, while someone else claims they should be called UMPC PCs. In any case, Samsung has decided to introduce a pretty exciting product, the Mondi, to this new category.

The Samsung Mondi has both a touch screen display and qwerty keyboard. The display is 4.3 inches in size. So, it is not a smartphone, but a tablet. It can be connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi or the new Wimax 4G (fourth generation wireless broadband) technology. In early 2009, Wimax was available only in small areas in the US and Asia.

The Mondi is built on Windows Mobile 6.1 software which means it comes with Microsoft applications for email and multimedia. Fortunately, Samsung has chosen Opera for the Web browser. The tablet has built-in GPS with maps. It comes with 4GB of RAM, Bluetooth, 3 megapixel camera, and HDMI TV out connector.

The Samsung Mondi doesn't have many competitive products yet, but the one we have tried out is a tough product to beat. The Nokia N810 has a slide-out keyboard and touch screen. It runs on Linux. An active developer community has been developing open source applications for the product for a couple of years already

Nokia N800 Review

Just a couple weeks ago, the nice folks at Nokia were kind enough to send us the new Nokia N800 Internet Tablet for review. While I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this device having never used anything Linux-based before, in the end I ended up becoming very attached to this little guy. Everyone I showed it to looked at it in awe, and after fiddling around with it themselves, each one said they’d love to have one for themselves.

The Nokia N800 internet tablet features a large 4.1-inch 800×480 touchscreen display, which displays both text and pictures very clearly. Other features of the tablet include WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth, a mini-USB port, and a 3.5mm headphones jack. It runs off a 320Mhz TI CPU, and 128MB RAM, and includes 256MB of flash storage and two SD slots.

Alongside the top of the tablet is the on/off button, zoom buttons, and microphone. On the front of the Nokia on the left side next to the screen, is a a 5-way joypad as well as three other buttons - one for closing applications/windows, one for application menus, and another button for task switching. At the bottom of the tablet is a kickstand which folds out to prop up the device.

Samsung Instinct Gets Packed with Corporate Calendar/ to retail for about $129.99 to $599.99

The Samsung Instinct is what they say, a phone that would kill the iPhone. Well, that could be exciting though especially with that very modern design. But looking into the specs of this phone, this is actually shouldn’t be compared much to the iPhone since they do not have the same features at all.

Aside from that ultramodern design, this Samsung Instinct features a 3.1-inch touch screen display with localized haptic feedback and three hard navigation keys. The screen is customizable just like some other high-enders touch screen phones. It also has the Sprinon the internet.

Sadly, it doesn’t support any Wi-Fi connectivity, which means you have to use the GPRS to get hooked on the internet.

The latest additional feature to this phone is that users can access their corporate calendar, where they can easily do synchronization with Microsoft Exchange Server and IBM Lotus Notes account calendars. With that, they can view and update their work calendar, create and delete appointments, accept or decline meeting requests and a lot more. All of those actions are automatically synchronized with the user’s desktop calendar.

Existing users of this Samsung Instinct will need to do a software update with Mobile Email Work to access the corporate calendar features, while new users can just activate the service thru the email menu, and without downloading anything.

This phone is said to retail for about $129.99 to $599.99. Well, with such unique and functional phone, that amount is just right.
